A portrait of my beautiful mama holding me, her first baby. This photograph means the world to me and I am so thankful that I have it. It is in an album that I loved looking through when I was a child. I have the fondest memories about going through photos from my early childhood and having my mom tell me all the stories that go with them.
I am happy that my mom looked up to the camera and tried to smile that day, even though she is probably tired and overwhelmed. I am happy that she did not decide she has a bad hair day, extra weigh or a dress she doesn't love on and she did not hide from the camera. I am happy, because now I get to look at this photo and understand it all - the love that feels like its going to make your hear burst, the heavy weight of the responsibility of raising a tiny human, the hopes and dreams that suddenly fill your future and the fatigue (oh the fatigue!). Now that I am a mom myself, I don't just see this photograph, I feel it.
So I will extend a plea to you today again as I have done before - photograph your families! Exist in photos! Print your memories and look through them often!
